Restart Steam In most cases, outdated graphics driver is the culprit of Steam not working issue.
Driver Talent is able to automatically download and install the best-matched Graphics driver in the background.
Is there a different comparable update for 64 bit OS or is there a different problem?

Actual install of the updates only took about 30 minutes. After installing this patch, checking for updates is completed in 10 minutes. And be prepared to see a longer black screen before desktop appears.
